Point of View: As seen on HGTV - Restored 1932 Waterfront Treasure on Tarpon Bay

Simply breathtaking. This Sanibel Island waterfront home has been featured on HGTV and is available for your extended vacation. Point of View is a beautifully restored 1932 Sears Roebuck Catalog home on the historic, secluded Woodring Road, with views of Tarpon Bay just 50 feet from the house — yes, the water really is that close. Bring your boat and settle in for a month or longer.

A Piece of Sanibel History: Built in 1932, this 3 bedroom, 3 bath 2,000-square-foot home has been beautifully restored with central air, heat, a laundry room, updated kitchen, pine floors and the original Pecky Cypress walls.

Kitchen, Dining & Living:
The fully-equipped kitchen features granite countertops, beadboard cabinetry, and Samsung smart appliances.

The water view dining room seats 8 comfortably, and there is additional seating at the bar.

The living room offers a sectional sofa, flat-panel TV/DVD, and sweeping views of Tarpon Bay; an adjoining family room seats 3 with side chairs — a perfect spot to read, write, or simply take in the water.

Bedrooms:
The primary bedroom faces the bay with a King bed and a spa-like en-suite bath featuring Lefroy Brooks fixtures, a soaking tub, custom rain shower, water closet, and a walk-in California Closet.

The Queen guest bedroom overlooks the garden at the front of the house, with a Smart TV and plantation shutters. Between the two main-level bedrooms, a 3-piece period bath features a walk-in rain shower, pedestal sink, travertine flooring, and coquina stone walls for a spa-like feel.

A spiral staircase leads up to a dormer-style bedroom with 3 Twin beds, a reading chaise, Smart TV, and its own en-suite bath. It's perfect for kids or adults that want a separate, quite space to relax.

Outdoor Living:
Sliding doors from the living room, family room, and primary bedroom open onto a deck with a table for 4, a gas BBQ grill, and side chairs.

Take a few steps and you're on your very own private stretch of beach and dock, furnished with Adirondack chairs and 2 chaise lounges — an unbeatable spot for sunrise or sunset.

On Tarpon Bay:
Fishing and crabbing from the dock are spectacular, and Tarpon Bay is a birder’s paradise, with egrets, herons, spoonbills, pelicans, and sanderlings a common sight. It’s also a piece of angling history — the first tarpon ever caught on rod and reel was landed right here in Tarpon Bay in 1885.

Tarpon Bay is part of the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge.
Point of View is professionally managed by Cottages to Castles of Sanibel & Captiva since 1997.

Rental Terms: Point of View is zoned by the City of Sanibel for a minimum 28-night rental, no exceptions; additional nights beyond 28 are pro-rated. A small non-shedding dog is welcome at Point of View with prior owner approval and a non-refundable pet fee.

Boat docks/lifts are not automatically included with every property — if you need dock or lift access, this must be requested and approved at time of booking. Proof of insurance and a separate boat lift agreement/fee are required.

FAQ
What makes Point of View historically significant? It’s a beautifully restored 1932 Sears Roebuck Catalog home with much of its original details still intact, on Sanibel’s historic Woodring Road — and Tarpon Bay itself is where the first tarpon was ever caught on rod and reel, back in 1885.

Is Point of View on the water? Yes — Tarpon Bay is approximately 50 feet from the house, with a private dock and boardwalk to the beach.

Is Point of View pet-friendly? Yes, with prior approval and a non-refundable pet fee.

What’s the minimum stay at Point of View? The City of Sanibel requires a minimum 28-night rental, no exceptions.

Are beach towels and beach chairs provided? Yes — a minimum of 2 beach chairs are provided, along with 1 beach towel per person. Beach umbrellas are not provided.

Are bicycles provided? We don’t provide bicycles — that’s not our specialty. We leave bike rentals to the pros: Billy’s Bikes and Finnimore’s. Both deliver, provide helmets, and offer roadside assistance if needed.

Use of Boat Docks and Boat Lifts:
Not all boat docks and boat lifts are for tenant use. Please specify at time of reservation if you would like to bring your boat and require use of the boat dock or lift. If not disclosed and approved by Cottages to Castles, you will be asked to remove the vessel immediately. Tenants are not allowed to move, relocate or touch a boat parked on the property’s dock or boat lift without prior approval from Cottages to Castles. There may be an extra charge for use of the boat dock and/or lift at the designated property. A signed damage waiver is required.

How do I keep mosquitoes and no-see-ums away during my beach vacation? The best defense is an insect repellent with Picaridin, paired with light, long-sleeve coverage when you're not in the water. Loose, breathable long sleeves and pants block bites well, but that's not always practical at the beach, pool, or swimming in the Gulf — so a good Picaridin-based repellent is your go-to.

Guest favorites include Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus Picaridin Aerosol Spray and Bug Guard Wipes/Lotion (available on Avon.com), and Sawyer Picaridin Lotion (available on Amazon). Picaridin is effective against both mosquitoes and no-see-ums, doesn't feel greasy like DEET, and won't damage swimsuits or patio furniture. Apply before heading outside in the early morning or evening, when both pests are most active.

"Great stay on Sanibel Island-nice island pace!!! ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We rented the Point of View home for a month over Christmas and New Years and loved everything about it. Its charm, view, and private setting. Our four children enjoyed fishing, kayaking, and crabbing. They hardly ever touched their iPads!!! This has easily been our best family vacation, ever. Everything was perfect! My favorite part of the house is the Master Bathroom window! There was nothing I didn’t like! We tried our best to take good care of it. We had a wonderful Christmas here and had many adventures. The boys filleted their first fish, and I read two whole books. We’ll never forget our time at your amazing piece of paradise ???? Sharon, Amy, and Connie were great at making sure our experience was 2nd to none. We can’t wait to come back next year!!!????
