Yes. The City of Sanibel determines the minimum stay requirements for Sanibel properties, while Lee County governs Captiva rentals.
Cottages: 7 night minimum
*Condominiums: 7, 14 or 28 night minimum, as determined by the City and Condominium Association *Reservations for shorter periods of time may be available in other seasons, as set by each Condominium Association.
Sanibel Homes: 28 night minimum, no exceptions
Captiva Condos and Homes are governed by Lee County and require a minimum 7 night stay.
Please do not ask us to circumvent the rental ordinances to rent a property to you for less than what the law requires. We honor the Good Neighbor Policy.

No. Sanibel homes generally rent starting on the first of the month, while cottage and condos typically rent on a Saturday to Saturday arrival and departure schedules.

If you have specific dates, or would like to stay longer than 7 nights, email or call us at 1-800-472-5385 with your desired dates and we will check availability.

You must be 25 years of age to rent. Student groups are not permitted.

Weddings, receptions and other gatherings are permitted only with prior approval of the owners and Cottages to Castles. Special pricing, security deposits and payment of additional fees may be required. An atmosphere conducive to quiet must be maintained.

Guests should not expect to check in prior to 3pm. In some cases, check-in may be delayed due to circumstances beyond our control. Rate adjustments are not made for late check in or early departure. An early check in may be approved based on availability, but is not guaranteed.

Check-out is 10am, sharp. A late check out may be approved based on availability but is not guaranteed. A late check-out must be approved in advance by Cottages to Castles, and a late check-out fee will be assessed.

Plan on about 1 hour driving time, if you drive straight from the airport to our office. During season and other high volume traffic periods, you may encounter traffic delays on and off the island.

The toll on the Sanibel Causeway is $6 with a transponder or $9 for toll-by-plate. Your license plate will be photographed and you’ll receive a bill for the toll in the mail. There is no toll to leave the island.

If you have a rental car, you may want to consider renting a vehicle with a SunPass already installed, so as to avoid a charge to your credit card on file with the car rental agency. There may be an extra fee, so read your car rental agreement carefully for toll charge disclosures.

A discount transponder is available for purchase, with a prepaid toll account. Visit www.leewayinfo.com for program information.

The toll booth is unmanned and 100% electronic.  No cash or credit card payments can be made at the toll booth.

Many of our properties offer keyless check-in, allowing you to proceed directly to the property, while others may require you to check in at our office located 2427 Periwinkle Way.

You will receive arrival instructions in the days leading up to your arrival, with turn-by-turn directions to your property or our office.

Should you be directed to our office for key packet pickup and arrive after our office is closed, we have a lock box located outside our office front door. Your arrival  packet will include a map, turn-by-turn directions, newspapers, and other pertinent information.  The lockbox code will be sent to you via SMS and email prior to your arrival.

You can expect your home away from home to be provided with linens, pots/pans, cooking utensils and basic cleaning supplies so that your stay can be self-catering, up to and including:

  • Beach chairs – umbrellas are not provided
  • Beach towels & linens
  • Hair dryer, iron, ironing board
  • Coffee filters, paper towels, facial/toilet tissue, starter trash bags
  • Dish soap, hand/bar/bath soap
  • Basic cleaning supplies (such as glass cleaner, countertop cleaner, etc)
  • Starter supply of dishwasher tablets and laundry detergent are provided for units with dishwashers and laundry in the unit.

Seasonings, spices and other food items are not provided.

If you would like your unit provisioned with groceries in advance of your arrival, please contact our office for details.

No. Due to helmet laws pertaining to children under 16, as well as maintenance requirements, we do not provide bicycles. Bicycles are available for daily, weekly and seasonal rental. Please see our Island Info page for more resources.

Yes, although being on an island, we do not warrant or guarantee speed, bandwidth, availability, malfunction of equipment or outages.

If reliable wifi is important to you, please consider traveling with a mobile WiFi Hotspot, or contact the Sanibel Public Library to arrange to reserve an Unlimited Data Mobile WiFi Hotspot device out for the duration of your visit. A library membership card is required, and visitor cards are available for purchase at a nominal cost.

No. Smoking is prohibited at all of our properties. In addition, many complexes on the island are smoke-free and prohibit smoking anywhere on the property. Some properties provide a designated smoking area.

Some vacation rentals allow dogs, with Association and/or Owner approval. Payment of a non-refundable pet fee is required, and weight limits apply. Look for the Pet Friendly Paw Print on our listings.🐾

Yes, they must be leashed unless they are swimming in the water. Please see leash laws here for more info.

Yes. Credit cards are accepted for reservation payments, and a nominal convenience fee is applicable.

Personal checks, E-checks, business, cashier or bank check are also accepted, as well as bank wire transfers.  We do not accept Venmo or Zelle.

Yes! We offer the CSA Guest Protect Plan, and it is available to help you focus on enjoying yourself!

We encourage you to purchase Trip Cancellation & Interruption Protection to protect your vacation savings if you need to cancel for a covered reason.

Please note: if you are traveling between June 1 – November 30, this is Hurricane Season. Owners are not required to rebate rent in the event of a voluntary or mandatory evacuation.

Residents of NY and HI must purchase insurance directly through CSA.

Owners are not required to rebate rent in the event of a hurricane, pandemic or other unforeseen event.

If you purchased Travel Insurance and have to cancel; or, if your travel plans are interrupted for a listed, covered reason, we will provide documentation to you to file your claim.

Otherwise, all cancellations are subject to a cancellation fee plus taxes. In addition, the Reservation Fee (plus taxes) and Travel Insurance is not refundable at any time.
– All pre-paid funds will be retained unless the vacation rental is rebooked for the same rate and term of your reservation.
– A partial refund may be applicable for the same dates rebooked at an adjusted rate. In addition, all approved cancellation refunds will be returned via the same method of payment that was used to confirm the reservation, less applicable fees.
– All cancellations must be in writing.
– The reservation confirmation outlines the cancellation policy in detail.

Yes. However, we do not recommend mail or deliveries to be sent to any vacation rental address.
